Frequently asked questions
How attractive is Myanmar as a destination for visitors from Ukraine?
Myanmar offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Ukrainian travelers. With 11 million Ukrainians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Myanmar's unique tourism opportunities attractive, contributing to the country's economic growth through increased tourist receipts.
Please answer the following question: How safe is Myanmar for tourists coming from Ukraine?
Myanmar's safety for tourists, including those from Ukraine, is a complex issue. According to the Global Peace Index, Myanmar ranks 145th out of 160 countries, which is better than Ukraine's ranking of 156th. However, the murder rate in Myanmar is significantly higher, at 28.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. Crime statistics from the Global Organized Crime Index indicate that Myanmar faces serious challenges, particularly in areas such as mafia activity and drug trafficking, with indices of 9.0 for mafia groups and 9.5 for heroin trade, indicating a higher level of organized crime compared to Ukraine. While Myanmar may be relatively safer in terms of overall peace, the higher crime rates and organized crime issues suggest that tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about the local situation before traveling.
