Moldova offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions that could appeal to some Chinese travelers. While it currently sees a modest number of tourists, the potential for growth exists, especially considering that 20.3 million Chinese travel abroad annually, with a segment likely interested in exploring Moldova.
Moldova is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from China. According to the Global Peace Index, Moldova ranks 61st out of 160 countries, which is better than China's ranking of 87th. In terms of safety while walking alone at night, Moldova is ranked 33rd among 40 European countries, although specific data for China is not available. Regarding crime statistics, Moldova has a murder rate of 2.3 per 100,000 people, compared to China's 0.5. However, the organized crime indices indicate that Moldova has lower scores in certain areas, such as mafia groups (4.0 for Moldova vs. 7.0 for China) and crime networks (4.0 for Moldova vs. 7.5 for China). While there are some concerns, particularly related to human trafficking and organized crime, overall, Moldova presents a safer environment for tourists than might be expected. Travelers should still exercise common precautions to ensure their safety.
