Libya offers a unique appeal for Kuwaiti visitors, featuring diverse landscapes, rich historical sites, and a beautiful Mediterranean coastline. While the tourism infrastructure is still developing, it presents an intriguing opportunity for exploration. However, its attractiveness may resonate more with a specific segment of Kuwait's 4 million population.
Libya is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Kuwait. According to the Global Peace Index, Libya ranks 126th out of 160 countries, while Kuwait is much higher at 25th. In terms of crime statistics, Kuwait has a very low murder rate of 0.3 per 100,000 people, while Libya's murder rate is not available. The Global Organized Crime Index reveals significant differences as well: Kuwait scores well with indices of 1.0 for mafia groups and 6.0 for crime networks, whereas Libya scores poorly with 8.0 and 7.5, respectively. Additionally, Libya faces serious challenges with human trafficking and arms trafficking, scoring 9.5 and 9.5 respectively, while Kuwait's scores are much lower at 8.0 and 6.5. Overall, tourists from Kuwait should exercise caution when considering travel to Libya due to these safety concerns.
