Libya offers a unique and largely unexplored tourism experience, featuring diverse landscapes, rich historical sites, and a beautiful Mediterranean coastline. While the country's tourism infrastructure is still developing, it could attract a segment of the 1.2 million Czechs who travel abroad annually, making it an intriguing option for some visitors from Czechia.
Libya is generally considered unsafe for tourists, including those from Czechia. While Czechia ranks 5th in safety for walking alone at night among 40 European countries, Libya is ranked 126th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, indicating significantly higher risks. Czechia has a very low murder rate of 0.4 per 100,000 people, while specific data for Libya is unavailable, raising concerns about safety. The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Libya faces severe challenges with organized crime, scoring poorly in various categories: mafia groups (8.0), human trafficking (9.5), and arms trafficking (9.5), compared to Czechia's much better scores (3.0 to 5.5). Given these factors, tourists from Czechia should exercise extreme caution and consider the risks before traveling to Libya.
