Latvia offers a unique blend of cultural richness and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Latvia's strategic location and strong tourism infrastructure attractive for their travels.
Latvia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Türkiye. According to safety rankings, Latvia is positioned 25th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, making it safer than Türkiye, which ranks 31st. Additionally, Latvia ranks 30th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, significantly safer than Türkiye, which is ranked 137th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Latvia is slightly higher than in Türkiye, with Latvia at 3.0 per 100,000 people compared to Türkiye's 2.5. However, Latvia has lower scores in organized crime indices, indicating a more favorable environment regarding mafia activity, crime networks, and state crime.
