Latvia offers a unique blend of cultural richness and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some of North Macedonia's 2 million residents. Its strategic location and strong tourism infrastructure enhance its attractiveness in the global tourism sector.
Latvia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from North Macedonia. While Latvia ranks 25th out of 40 countries for safety when walking alone at night, which is lower than North Macedonia's 17th place, it is important to note that Latvia is ranked 30th out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index, indicating a relatively safe environment overall. In terms of crime statistics, Latvia has a higher murder rate (3.0 per 100,000 people) compared to North Macedonia (1.2 per 100,000), but it has lower indices for organized crime in several categories, suggesting a more stable situation regarding crime networks and state crime. Overall, while there are some differences in safety rankings and crime statistics, Latvia remains a welcoming and relatively safe country for tourists.
