Latvia offers a unique blend of cultural richness and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some Azerbaijani travelers. With 1 million Azerbaijanis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Latvia's strategic location and developed tourism infrastructure attractive for their travels.
Latvia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Azerbaijan. According to the Global Peace Index, Latvia ranks 30th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety compared to Azerbaijan, which ranks 104th. In terms of safety while walking alone at night, Latvia is ranked 25th among 40 European countries, although specific data for Azerbaijan is not available. Regarding crime rates, the murder rate in Latvia is 3.0 per 100,000 people, slightly higher than Azerbaijan's rate of 1.9. However, Latvia has a lower index for organized crime and state crime compared to Azerbaijan, indicating a more stable environment. Overall, while no destination is without risk, Latvia is a safer option for tourists when compared to Azerbaijan.
