Lithuania is an appealing destination for some Iraqi visitors, offering a unique mix of attractions within the Baltic region. While it may not attract the same number of tourists as larger European countries, its distinctive offerings can appeal to a segment of Iraq's 44 million population.
Lithuania is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Iraq. According to the Global Peace Index, Lithuania ranks 31st out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety, especially when compared to Iraq, which ranks 148th. In terms of specific crime statistics, Lithuania has a murder rate of 2.6 per 100,000 people, significantly lower than Iraq's rate of 10.1. Additionally, Lithuania scores better in various organized crime indices, with lower ratings for mafia groups, crime networks, and human trafficking compared to Iraq. While Lithuania is ranked 24th for safety while walking alone at night among 40 European countries, there is no specific data available for Iraq in this context. Overall, tourists from Iraq can expect a safer environment in Lithuania compared to their home country.
