Lesotho, known as "The Kingdom in the Sky," offers stunning mountainous landscapes that could appeal to some Thai travelers. With 10.4 million Thais traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Lesotho an intriguing destination worth exploring.
Lesotho is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Lesotho ranks 123rd out of 160 countries, while Thailand ranks 73rd. The murder rate in Lesotho is significantly higher at 43.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Thailand's rate of 4.9. In terms of organized crime, Lesotho has a lower score in some areas, such as mafia groups (1.0 for Lesotho vs. 1.5 for Thailand) and flora crime (1.0 vs. 6.5), indicating some strengths. However, Lesotho faces challenges with higher murder rates and issues related to human trafficking and smuggling. Overall, tourists from Thailand should exercise caution when visiting Lesotho and stay informed about local safety conditions.
