Frequently asked questions
How attractive is Lesotho as a destination for visitors from Madagascar?
Lesotho, known as "The Kingdom in the Sky," offers stunning mountainous landscapes that could appeal to some visitors from Madagascar. Its unique beauty and charm make it an intriguing destination for a segment of the Malagasy population.
Please answer the following question: How safe is Lesotho for tourists coming from Madagascar?
Lesotho's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Madagascar, is a concern. According to the Global Peace Index, Lesotho ranks 123rd out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Madagascar's 43rd position. The murder rate in Lesotho is notably high at 43.6 per 100,000 people, while data for Madagascar is not available. In terms of organized crime, Lesotho scores better in some areas, such as mafia presence (1.0 compared to Madagascar's 4.0) and flora crime (1.0 versus 7.5 for Madagascar). However, Lesotho has higher scores in state crime (6.0) and resource crime (5.5) compared to Madagascar. Overall, while Lesotho has some lower indices in specific crime categories, its higher murder rate and lower overall safety ranking suggest that tourists from Madagascar should exercise caution when visiting.
