Liberia presents a unique and emerging travel destination for some Georgian visitors, as it offers rich cultural experiences and potential for exploration in West Africa. Although tourism is still developing, the country's appeal may attract a portion of the 3.8 million Georgians who travel abroad annually.
Liberia is considered relatively safe for tourists, ranking 67th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, which is better than Georgia's ranking of 98th. However, the murder rate in Liberia is higher at 3.3 per 100,000 people compared to Georgia's 1.9. In terms of organized crime, Georgia generally has better indices than Liberia across various categories, indicating lower levels of mafia presence, crime networks, and human trafficking. For example, Georgia scores 2.5 for mafia groups while Liberia scores 3.0. Overall, while Liberia has a better peace ranking, tourists should remain vigilant due to higher crime rates and organized crime challenges compared to Georgia.
