Liberia is an emerging destination in West Africa that is starting to attract international interest, including from Spanish travelers. Although tourism revenue is currently modest, the country offers unique opportunities for cultural exchange. With 7 million Spaniards traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Liberia an intriguing option to explore.
Liberia presents a mixed safety profile for tourists coming from Spain. While Spain ranks 22nd among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, there is no specific data available for Liberia in this regard. According to the Global Peace Index, Liberia is ranked 67th out of 160 countries, indicating it is relatively safe, but still less safe than Spain, which ranks 23rd. In terms of crime statistics, Spain has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.6 per 100,000 people compared to Liberia's 3.3. Various organized crime indices also reflect that Spain generally has a better standing than Liberia across multiple categories, although Liberia has lower scores for mafia groups and human smuggling. Overall, while Liberia is not among the most dangerous countries, travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
