Although tourism revenue is currently modest, the country offers unique opportunities for cultural exchange, making it appealing to a segment of Cameroon’s 28 million population.
Liberia is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Cameroon. According to the Global Peace Index, Liberia ranks 67th out of 160 countries, while Cameroon ranks 135th. The murder rate in Liberia is lower at 3.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Cameroon's 4.5. In terms of organized crime, Liberia has better scores across various categories. For instance, the mafia group index is 3.0 for Liberia versus 4.0 for Cameroon, and the state crime index is 6.0 for Liberia compared to 8.0 for Cameroon. Overall, while no country is without risks, Liberia presents a relatively safer environment for tourists from Cameroon.
