1 mission of Sri Lanka in North Macedonia: Consulate of Sri Lanka in Skopje, North Macedonia. Addresses, phones and contacts.
Head of mission: Mr. Dilaver Alioski, Honorary Consul (confirmed in the diplomatic list of Sri Lanka, 3 Dec 2024)
Sri Lanka is an appealing travel destination for some Macedonians, thanks to its rich cultural heritage, lush landscapes, tropical beaches, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. While it attracts a modest number of international visitors, it offers unique experiences that could resonate with a segment of North Macedonia's 2 million population.
Sri Lanka is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to North Macedonia. While North Macedonia ranks 38th in the Global Peace Index, Sri Lanka is ranked 99th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Sri Lanka is 3.5 per 100,000 people, higher than North Macedonia's rate of 1.2. Additionally, crime statistics indicate that while both countries have similar scores for mafia groups (4.0), Sri Lanka has higher rates of state crime (7.0) and a higher female murder rate (2.2) compared to North Macedonia (0.4). Overall, tourists from North Macedonia may need to exercise caution when visiting Sri Lanka, as it does not match the safety levels they are accustomed to at home.
