1 mission of Saint Lucia in Sweden: Consulate of Saint Lucia in Stockholm, Sweden. Addresses, phones and contacts.
Head of mission: Mr. Raoul Smitt, Honorary Consul (confirmed in the diplomatic list of Sweden, 23 Oct 2024)
Saint Lucia is an appealing destination for some Swedish travelers, thanks to its rich cultural and natural attractions. With 4.2 million Swedes traveling abroad annually, a portion may find the island's unique offerings enticing.
Saint Lucia presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Sweden. While Sweden ranks 36th in safety among 40 European countries for walking alone at night, there is no comparable data for Saint Lucia. The Global Peace Index places Sweden 39th out of 160 countries, but again, no data is available for Saint Lucia. In terms of crime statistics, Saint Lucia has a significantly higher murder rate of 39.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Sweden's rate of 1.1. Female murder rates are also concerning, with Saint Lucia at 8.8 versus Sweden's 0.5. When examining organized crime, both countries have similar indices, but Saint Lucia shows higher vulnerability in certain areas, such as cocaine and cannabis trade, where it scores 7.0, compared to Sweden's 4.5 and 5.0, respectively. Overall, while Saint Lucia can be a beautiful destination, tourists from Sweden should be aware of the higher crime rates and take necessary precautions for their safety.
