Saint Lucia presents a unique appeal for Cuban travelers, showcasing a rich blend of cultural and natural attractions. With around 300,000 Cubans traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Saint Lucia an intriguing destination worth exploring.
Saint Lucia has a higher crime rate compared to Cuba, particularly in terms of violent crime. The murder rate in Saint Lucia is 39.0 per 100,000 people, significantly higher than Cuba's rate of 5.0. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Saint Lucia faces more challenges with organized crime and drug trafficking than Cuba. While Cuba has a relatively stable crime environment, with lower indices for mafia groups and crime networks, Saint Lucia's indices suggest a more concerning situation, particularly regarding drug-related crimes. Tourists from Cuba should exercise caution when visiting Saint Lucia, remain aware of their surroundings, and take standard safety precautions.
