Lebanon offers a unique blend of rich cultural heritage, beautiful natural landscapes, and modern attractions, making it an appealing destination for some of Qatar's 3 million residents. Despite recent fluctuations in tourist numbers, its historical significance and vibrant social scene continue to attract international visitors.
Lebanon's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Qatar, is a concern. According to the Global Peace Index, Lebanon ranks 132nd out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Qatar, which ranks 29th. The murder rate in Lebanon is 1.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Qatar's very low rate of 0.3. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Lebanon has higher risks associated with organized crime, with various indices showing Lebanon scoring worse than Qatar in areas such as mafia presence, crime networks, and state crime. While Lebanon offers rich cultural experiences, potential visitors should be aware of the safety concerns and assess their travel plans accordingly.
