Despite a relatively low number of tourist arrivals, the country's unique landscapes and rich heritage present significant potential for attracting visitors.
Kazakhstan is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Tajikistan. According to the Global Peace Index, Kazakhstan ranks 57th out of 160 countries, making it safer than Tajikistan, which ranks 69th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Kazakhstan is 3.2 per 100,000 people, compared to Tajikistan's lower rate of 0.9. However, when looking at organized crime indices, Kazakhstan scores better in several categories, such as mafia groups (3.5 vs. 5.5 in Tajikistan) and crime networks (4.0 vs. 5.0).
