Kuwait offers a distinctive blend of tourism opportunities, highlighting its significance in global affairs. Although it attracts fewer foreign tourists than neighboring countries, it boasts high spending per visitor, indicating a preference for luxury experiences among affluent travelers. This makes Kuwait an appealing destination for a segment of the approximately 3 million Qataris.
Kuwait is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Qatar. According to the Global Peace Index, Kuwait ranks 25th out of 160 countries, while Qatar is ranked 29th, indicating a similar level of safety. In terms of crime statistics, both countries have a murder rate of 0.3 per 100,000 people. However, Kuwait has a slightly higher rate of female murders at 1.1 compared to Qatar's 0.5. The Global Organized Crime Index shows that both countries have low scores for mafia groups (1.0), but they share higher scores for crime networks and state crime (6.0). Notably, Kuwait scores better in foreign crime (3.5) compared to Qatar (5.5). Overall, tourists can feel relatively secure in Kuwait, similar to their experience in Qatar.
