Cambodia offers a rich historical and cultural experience, along with stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some visitors from Myanmar. While it may not attract a vast number of tourists, it holds particular interest for a segment of Myanmar's population of 54 million.
Cambodia is generally considered a safer destination for tourists compared to Myanmar. According to the Global Peace Index, Cambodia ranks 68th out of 160 countries, while Myanmar ranks 145th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Cambodia is significantly lower at 1.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Myanmar's rate of 28.4. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Cambodia has lower scores for various types of organized crime, such as mafia groups (2.5 in Cambodia vs. 9.0 in Myanmar) and drug trafficking (4.0 for heroin in Cambodia vs. 9.5 in Myanmar). Overall, while no travel destination is without risks, tourists from Myanmar may find Cambodia to be a comparatively safer option.
