Kenya offers a compelling appeal for Zambian visitors, featuring stunning savannahs and rich wildlife that highlight its international tourism appeal. With a well-developed tourism infrastructure that includes nearly 3,000 accommodation options, it caters to a variety of travelers. While not all of Zambia's 20 million residents may be drawn to Kenya, a significant segment of the population is likely to find it an attractive destination.
Kenya's safety for tourists coming from Zambia can be assessed through various crime indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Kenya ranks 120th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower level of safety compared to Zambia, which ranks 55th. In terms of murder rates, both countries have similar figures, with Zambia at 5.4 per 100,000 people and Kenya slightly lower at 5.3. However, Kenya has a notable rate of female murders at 2.6 per 100,000, which is not available for Zambia. The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Kenya faces more challenges with organized crime, with higher scores in several categories: mafia groups (7.0), crime networks (7.5), state crime (8.0), and human trafficking (7.5), compared to Zambia's lower scores of 3.0 to 6.0 in these areas. Overall, while both countries have their safety concerns, Kenya presents a more complex security environment for tourists compared to Zambia. Travelers should stay informed and take necessary precautions when visiting Kenya.
