Kenya is an appealing destination for Rwandan visitors, offering a rich mix of natural beauty and cultural experiences. With nearly 3,000 accommodations available, it caters to various preferences and budgets. Although tourist arrivals have varied recently, a segment of Rwanda's 14 million population is likely to find Kenya an attractive choice for travel.
Kenya's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Rwanda, is a nuanced topic. According to the Global Peace Index, Kenya ranks 120th out of 160 countries, while Rwanda is ranked higher at 90th. In terms of murder rates, Rwanda has a significantly lower rate at 3.6 per 100,000 people compared to Kenya's 5.3. The Global Organized Crime Index also indicates that Kenya faces more challenges with organized crime, scoring worse in various categories such as mafia groups (Kenya 7.0 vs. Rwanda 1.0) and crime networks (Kenya 7.5 vs. Rwanda 3.0). Overall, while Kenya has much to offer tourists, it is generally considered less safe than Rwanda based on these statistics. Travelers should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard safety precautions while visiting.
