Kenya offers a unique appeal for Malaysian visitors with its stunning savannahs and diverse wildlife, making it a notable destination in international tourism. The country features a robust tourism infrastructure with nearly 3,000 accommodation options, catering to various preferences. While it may attract only a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population, its natural and cultural attractions can entice many travelers.
Kenya's safety for tourists, including those from Malaysia, is a concern based on various crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, Kenya ranks 120th out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Malaysia, which ranks 10th. In terms of homicide rates, Malaysia has a low murder rate of 0.7 per 100,000 people, while Kenya's rate is notably higher at 5.3. Additionally, Kenya has a female murder rate of 2.6, which is not available for Malaysia. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights differences in crime safety, with Kenya scoring worse in several categories. For example, mafia groups and crime networks in Kenya are rated 7.0 and 7.5, respectively, compared to Malaysia's scores of 4.5 and 5.5. State crime in Kenya is rated at 8.0, while Malaysia's score is 6.0. Overall, while many tourists visit Kenya safely, it is essential for Malaysian travelers to stay informed about local conditions and take necessary precautions.
