Kenya is an appealing destination for some Kuwaitis, offering a unique mix of stunning landscapes and rich wildlife. With nearly 3,000 accommodation options, the country provides a variety of choices for travelers. Despite recent fluctuations in tourist numbers, its diverse attractions can attract a segment of Kuwait's population of 4 million.
Kenya's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Kuwait, is a concern based on various crime statistics. The Global Peace Index ranks Kenya 120th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level compared to Kuwait, which ranks 25th. In terms of murder rates, Kuwait has a significantly lower rate at 0.3 per 100,000 people, while Kenya's rate is 5.3. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with Kuwait at 1.1 and Kenya at 2.6. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights the disparity, with Kuwait scoring better across various crime categories. For example, mafia groups score 1.0 in Kuwait versus 7.0 in Kenya, and state crime scores 6.0 in Kuwait compared to 8.0 in Kenya. Overall, while many tourists visit Kenya safely, it is essential for travelers from Kuwait to remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings.
