Kenya offers a compelling mix of natural beauty and cultural experiences, making it an appealing destination for some Belgian travelers. With a robust tourism infrastructure featuring nearly 3,000 accommodations, it caters to various preferences. Given that 8.6 million Belgians travel abroad annually, a portion may find Kenya an attractive option.
Kenya's safety for tourists, including those from Belgium, presents some concerns. Belgium ranks 16th in the Global Peace Index, while Kenya is significantly lower at 120th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Belgium is 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Kenya's 5.3, indicating a higher risk of violent crime in Kenya. Additionally, Belgium has lower indices for organized crime across various categories, with Kenya scoring higher in areas such as mafia presence and state crime. While many tourists visit Kenya safely, it is advisable for travelers to remain vigilant, stay informed about local conditions, and follow safety guidelines.
