Jordan is an appealing destination for some travelers from the Dominican Republic, thanks to its stunning landscapes and rich history. With notable attractions like Petra and the Dead Sea, it attracts international tourists. Among the 600,000 Dominicans who travel abroad annually, a portion may find Jordan an intriguing option.
Jordan is considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from the Dominican Republic. According to the Global Peace Index, Jordan ranks 65th out of 160 countries, which is better than the Dominican Republic's ranking of 95th. In terms of crime statistics, Jordan has a significantly lower murder rate of 1.0 per 100,000 people, compared to the Dominican Republic's rate of 10.5. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with Jordan at 0.6 and the Dominican Republic at 2.6. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights differences in crime dynamics. Jordan scores better in several categories, such as mafia groups (Jordan 1.5 vs. Dominican Republic 5.0) and resource crime (Jordan 1.5 vs. Dominican Republic 4.5). Overall, while no destination is without risks, Jordan offers a safer environment for tourists compared to the Dominican Republic.
