Jamaica is an appealing destination for a segment of Serbia's population of 7 million. Its vibrant tourism industry enhances both the local economy and international relations, making it an attractive option for visitors seeking a Caribbean experience.
Jamaica presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Serbia. While Serbia ranks 53rd in the Global Peace Index, indicating a relatively safe environment, Jamaica is ranked 89th out of 160 countries. Crime statistics reveal significant differences: Serbia has a murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, whereas Jamaica's rate is alarmingly high at 52.1. Additionally, the rates of female murders are 0.7 in Serbia compared to 9.3 in Jamaica. In terms of organized crime, Serbia generally fares better across various indices, with lower scores indicating less severe issues compared to Jamaica. For example, Jamaica has higher indices for mafia groups (8.0) and arms trafficking (8.5) compared to Serbia (6.0 and 7.5, respectively). Overall, while tourists can enjoy Jamaica's beauty, they should remain vigilant and informed about the safety landscape, as it is less safe than Serbia.
