Italy is a highly appealing destination for Chinese visitors, thanks to its rich history, culture, and iconic cities like Rome, Venice, and Florence. With 20.3 million Chinese traveling abroad annually, a significant number are likely to be interested in exploring Italy's renowned landscapes and attractions.
Italy is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from China. According to the Global Peace Index, Italy ranks 33rd out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety, especially compared to China, which ranks 87th. While Italy ranks 34th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, it shares a similar murder rate with China, both at 0.5 per 100,000 people. In terms of organized crime, Italy has a higher index score (9.0) for mafia groups compared to China's score (7.0), but Italy has a lower score for crime networks (3.0 versus 7.5 for China), suggesting a more organized crime structure in Italy. Overall, despite some concerns regarding organized crime, Italy remains a popular destination for tourists due to its rich culture and history.
