While Italy ranks 34th out of 40 countries for safety when walking alone at night, it is still safer than Belarus, which is ranked 38th. According to the Global Peace Index, Italy is ranked 33rd out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Belarus, which ranks 110th. In terms of crime statistics, Italy has a lower murder rate of 0.5 per 100,000 people compared to Belarus's 2.4. For female murders, Italy's rate is 0.4, while Belarus's is 1.7. Regarding organized crime, Italy does face challenges with mafia groups, ranking 9.0 on a scale where 1 is best and 10 is worst, but it has a lower index for crime networks (3.0) compared to Belarus (5.0). Overall, while there are some safety concerns, Italy is a relatively safe destination for tourists from Belarus.
