Iran offers a compelling experience for visitors from Uzbekistan, thanks to its rich history and diverse landscapes. Although the volume of foreign arrivals is relatively modest, the country is seeing a shift in tourism trends. With 8.4 million Uzbekistanis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Iran an appealing destination.
Iran's safety for tourists from Uzbekistan can be assessed through various indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Iran ranks 131st out of 160 countries, indicating it is less safe than Uzbekistan, which ranks 58th. In terms of murder rates, Uzbekistan has a lower rate at 1.4 per 100,000 people compared to Iran's 2.2. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Iran scores worse than Uzbekistan in several categories, including mafia groups (Iran 7.0 vs. Uzbekistan 5.0) and state crime (Iran 9.5 vs. Uzbekistan 7.0). While Iran has its attractions, tourists should be aware of the higher crime rates and safety concerns compared to Uzbekistan. Travelers are advised to stay informed and exercise caution while visiting.
