Iran offers a unique appeal for Tunisian visitors due to its rich history and diverse landscapes. Although the country sees a modest number of foreign tourists, it has been adjusting its tourism sector to attract more visitors. Given that around 700,000 Tunisians travel abroad annually, there is potential interest among some of them in exploring Iran as a travel destination.
Iran's safety for tourists from Tunisia can be assessed through various indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Iran ranks 131st out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level compared to Tunisia, which ranks 72nd. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Iran is 2.2 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Tunisia's rate of 4.8. However, organized crime indices suggest higher risks in Iran, with mafia groups rated at 7.0 and crime networks at 7.5, compared to Tunisia's ratings of 1.0 and 4.0, respectively. Overall, while Iran has a lower murder rate, the higher levels of organized crime and state crime suggest that tourists may face greater risks compared to Tunisia. Travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
