Iran offers a rich historical and diverse landscape, making it an appealing destination for some Kuwaitis. While the overall volume of foreign tourists is modest, the country is undergoing adjustments in its tourism sector, which may attract a segment of Kuwait's 4 million population.
Iran's safety for tourists from Kuwait can be assessed through various crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, Iran ranks 131st out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Kuwait, which ranks 25th. The murder rate in Iran is 2.2 per 100,000 people, compared to Kuwait's very low rate of 0.3. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Iran faces higher levels of organized crime, with indices showing a score of 7.0 for mafia groups and 9.5 for state crime, while Kuwait scores much better at 1.0 and 6.0, respectively. Overall, while tourists can visit Iran, they should be aware that it may not be as safe as Kuwait, given the higher crime rates and organized crime indices.
