Iran offers a captivating experience for international tourists, featuring rich history and diverse landscapes. Although foreign arrivals are modest, the country is adjusting its tourism development to attract more visitors. A portion of the 500,000 Belarusians who travel abroad annually may find Iran an appealing destination.
Iran's safety for tourists from Belarus can be assessed through various indices. While Belarus ranks 110th in the Global Peace Index, Iran is lower at 131st out of 160 countries, indicating a higher level of risk. In terms of murder rates, Belarus has a rate of 2.4 per 100,000 people, slightly higher than Iran's 2.2, suggesting comparable levels of violent crime. However, Belarus generally scores better in organized crime indices, with lower scores indicating less organized crime activity compared to Iran. For instance, Belarus has a mafia group index of 4.0, while Iran's is 7.0, and state crime is rated 9.0 for Belarus versus 9.5 for Iran. Overall, while both countries have relatively low murder rates, the organized crime environment in Iran may pose additional risks for tourists. Travelers should stay informed and exercise caution when visiting.
