India offers a rich blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern amenities, making it an appealing destination for some visitors from Seychelles. With around 100,000 Seychellois traveling abroad annually, a portion may find India’s historic landmarks and diverse ecosystems particularly enticing.
India's safety for tourists, including those from Seychelles, can be assessed through various crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, India ranks 114th out of 160 countries, indicating some concerns regarding safety. In terms of murder rates, India has a lower overall murder rate of 2.9 per 100,000 people compared to Seychelles' 4.7. However, Seychelles has a higher female murder rate at 5.4 compared to India's 2.5. The Global Organized Crime Index provides further insights, with Seychelles generally scoring better than India in several categories. For instance, Seychelles has a mafia group index of 2.0, while India's is 3.5. In terms of human trafficking, Seychelles scores 4.0, whereas India scores 7.0, indicating a higher concern in that area. Overall, while India presents some safety challenges, particularly in organized crime and human trafficking, it also has lower murder rates compared to Seychelles. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions while traveling in India.
