India offers a rich blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern amenities, making it an appealing destination for travelers. With around 300,000 Cubans traveling abroad each year, a portion of them may find India an intriguing option to explore its historic landmarks and diverse ecosystems.
India presents a mixed safety profile for tourists coming from Cuba. According to the Global Peace Index, India ranks 114th out of 160 countries, while Cuba is ranked higher at 96th. In terms of murder rates, Cuba has a rate of 5.0 per 100,000 people, compared to India's lower rate of 2.9. However, when looking at female murder rates, India has a slightly higher rate at 2.5 compared to Cuba's 2.1. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Cuba generally fares better in various crime categories. For instance, Cuba scores 4.0 for mafia groups, while India scores 3.5. However, India has higher scores in areas such as crime networks (6.0) and human trafficking (7.0) compared to Cuba's lower scores of 2.5 and 6.0, respectively. Overall, while India has lower murder rates, the presence of organized crime and certain safety concerns may affect the perception of safety for tourists. It is advisable for tourists to exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
