India offers a rich blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern amenities, making it an appealing destination for some Bruneians. The country's diverse attractions and historical landmarks attract a significant number of foreign visitors each year, highlighting its potential appeal to this demographic.
India's safety for tourists, including those from Brunei, can be assessed through various crime statistics. The Global Peace Index ranks India 114th out of 160 countries, indicating some concerns regarding safety. In terms of murder rates, India has a rate of 2.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Brunei's significantly lower rate of 0.5. Female murder rates are also higher in India at 2.5, versus Brunei's 1.2. The Global Organized Crime Index provides further insight, with India scoring higher on various crime-related indices. For example, India has a mafia group index of 3.5 (Brunei: 1.0) and a human trafficking index of 7.0 (Brunei: 4.5). Overall, while India offers rich cultural experiences, tourists should remain vigilant and informed about safety concerns, especially when compared to the lower crime rates in Brunei.
