India is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Afghanistan. According to the Global Peace Index, India ranks 114th out of 160 countries, while Afghanistan ranks much lower at 157th. In terms of murder rates, Afghanistan has a rate of 4.0 per 100,000 people, compared to India's rate of 2.9. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that India has lower scores in various crime categories compared to Afghanistan. For instance, mafia groups score 3.5 in India versus 7.5 in Afghanistan, and crime networks score 6.0 in India compared to 8.5 in Afghanistan.
