Israel offers a diverse and vibrant tourism experience that appeals to international visitors. While it may not rank highly in overall tourist arrivals, it has developed unique niche attractions that contribute positively to its economy. With around 100,000 Mauritians traveling abroad annually, a portion of this group may find Israel an appealing destination.
Israel presents a mixed safety profile for tourists, including those from Mauritius. According to the Global Peace Index, Israel ranks 152nd out of 160 countries, indicating lower safety compared to Mauritius, which ranks 22nd. In terms of murder rates, Israel has a rate of 1.9 per 100,000 people, slightly lower than Mauritius's rate of 2.6. However, crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index show that Israel faces more challenges with organized crime, scoring higher in categories like mafia groups (5.5) and human trafficking (5.5) compared to Mauritius (2.0 and 4.5, respectively). Overall, while Israel has a lower murder rate, the higher organized crime indices suggest that tourists should remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings while visiting.
