Ireland offers enchanting landscapes and a rich cultural experience, making it an appealing destination for some Nigerians. With its lush countryside, historic ruins, and unique Irish culture, it has the potential to attract a segment of Nigeria's population of 219 million.
Ireland is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Nigeria. According to the Global Peace Index, Ireland ranks 2nd out of 160 countries in terms of safety, while Nigeria ranks 144th. Additionally, the murder rate in Ireland is significantly lower, at 0.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Nigeria's 22.0. Although Ireland ranks 35th in safety for walking alone at night among 40 European countries, it remains much safer overall than Nigeria. Various crime indices also indicate that Ireland has lower levels of organized crime and violence compared to Nigeria. Therefore, Nigerian tourists can expect a relatively safe experience while visiting Ireland.
