Ireland offers captivating landscapes and a rich cultural experience, making it an appealing destination for some Mauritian travelers. With around 100,000 Mauritians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ireland's lush countryside, historic sites, and unique lifestyle attractive.
Ireland is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Mauritius. According to the Global Peace Index, Ireland ranks 2nd out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. In contrast, Mauritius ranks 22nd in the same index. While Ireland is ranked 35th out of 40 European countries for safety when walking alone at night, it is still safer than Mauritius in terms of overall crime rates. The murder rate in Ireland is significantly lower at 0.4 per 100,000 people compared to Mauritius at 2.6. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Ireland has a lower risk of state crime and organized crime compared to Mauritius, although both countries have some challenges. Overall, tourists from Mauritius can feel relatively safe while visiting Ireland, but as with any travel, it is advisable to remain aware of one's surroundings and take standard safety precautions.
