Haiti offers a unique blend of vibrant culture and rich history, making it an intriguing option for some Vietnamese travelers. However, with foreign tourist arrivals stagnating in recent years, its appeal as a tourist destination may be limited to a specific segment of Vietnam's 98 million population.
Haiti is considered less safe for tourists compared to Vietnam. According to the Global Peace Index, Haiti ranks 141st out of 160 countries, while Vietnam is ranked 41st. The murder rate in Haiti is significantly higher at 13.0 per 100,000 people, compared to Vietnam's rate of 1.5. Additionally, crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index indicate that Haiti faces challenges with organized crime, with a mafia group index of 8.0 (Vietnam's is 6.0) and a cocaine trade index of 8.0 (Vietnam's is 4.0). Overall, tourists from Vietnam should exercise caution when considering travel to Haiti due to these safety concerns.
