Haiti offers a unique blend of vibrant culture and rich history, making it a potentially appealing destination for some Brazilian travelers. Although foreign tourist arrivals have stabilized recently, the country could attract a portion of the 10.6 million Brazilians who travel abroad annually.
Haiti is considered less safe for tourists compared to Brazil. According to the Global Peace Index, Haiti ranks 141st out of 160 countries, while Brazil is ranked 129th. In terms of murder rates, Brazil has a higher rate at 22.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Haiti's 13.0. However, organized crime indices indicate that both countries face significant challenges, with Haiti scoring slightly worse in areas such as mafia presence and human trafficking. Overall, while Haiti has a lower murder rate, the overall safety environment for tourists is concerning, and travelers should exercise caution.
