Honduras offers a diverse range of attractions, from its beautiful Caribbean coast to its scenic highlands, making it a potentially appealing destination for some Nicaraguan travelers. Honduras is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Nicaragua. According to the Global Peace Index, Honduras ranks 121st out of 160 countries, while Nicaragua is ranked 111th. The murder rate in Honduras is significantly higher, at 38.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Nicaragua's 11.0. Additionally, female murder rates are also higher in Honduras (6.5) than in Nicaragua (3.1). In terms of organized crime, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Honduras has higher scores across various categories, suggesting a greater prevalence of mafia groups (8.5 vs. 5.0), crime networks (8.0 vs. 6.5), and state crime (8.5 vs. 9.0).
