Georgia offers a compelling blend of natural beauty and rich culture, making it an appealing destination for some Mauritian travelers. With around 100,000 Mauritians traveling internationally each year, a portion may find Georgia to be an interesting choice for their travels.
Georgia is relatively safe for tourists, though it is ranked 98th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, compared to Mauritius, which ranks 22nd. The murder rate in Georgia is lower at 1.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Mauritius's 2.6. However, various crime indices suggest that while Georgia has some organized crime issues, it generally has lower scores in several categories compared to Mauritius. For instance, Georgia scores better in mafia presence (2.5 vs. 2.0 for Mauritius) and has lower scores in state crime and crime networks. Overall, while Georgia is not as safe as Mauritius, it is still considered a relatively secure destination for tourists.
