The United Kingdom is a prominent and diverse tourist destination, celebrated for its extensive history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. Although recent statistics indicate a decline in tourist arrivals, it still attracts considerable international interest, reflected in its strong tourism revenue. A segment of the 10.4 million Thais who travel abroad annually may find the UK appealing.
The United Kingdom is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Thailand. It ranks 34th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, indicating a relatively high level of safety. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in the UK is significantly lower at 1.0 per 100,000 people compared to Thailand's 4.9. While the UK ranks 37th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, it remains safer overall compared to Thailand, which ranks 73rd on the Global Peace Index. In organized crime indices, the UK scores better in several categories, though both countries face challenges. Overall, tourists from Thailand can expect a safe experience in the UK, but should remain aware of their surroundings, as they would in any foreign country.
