France is a premier global tourism destination, attracting millions of visitors annually. While it is highly popular overall, it may appeal to a segment of the 2.7 million Turks who travel abroad each year, with some likely interested in visiting France.
France presents a mixed safety profile for tourists coming from Türkiye. According to safety rankings, France is ranked 40th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, which is lower than Türkiye's ranking of 31st. However, in terms of the Global Peace Index, France ranks 84th out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Türkiye, which ranks 137th. Looking at crime statistics, France has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Türkiye's 2.5. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with France at 0.7 and Türkiye at 1.0. In terms of organized crime, Türkiye generally scores worse than France across various categories, such as mafia groups and state crime, where Türkiye scores 8.0 and 9.0 compared to France's 6.0 and 3.0, respectively. Overall, while France has certain safety concerns, particularly at night, it is generally safer than Türkiye in terms of violent crime and organized crime indices. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions while traveling in France.
