France is a highly attractive destination for many travelers, including those from Tunisia. Each year, around 700,000 Tunisians travel abroad, and a portion of them may choose to visit France, drawn by its vibrant culture and diverse offerings.
France presents a mixed safety profile for tourists coming from Tunisia. According to safety rankings, France is 40th among 40 European countries regarding safety while walking alone at night, while Tunisia ranks higher at 72nd in the Global Peace Index, where France is 84th out of 160 countries. In terms of crime statistics, Tunisia has a higher murder rate (4.8 per 100,000 people) compared to France (1.1 per 100,000). However, France has higher indices for organized crime, indicating more significant issues with mafia groups and crime networks. For example, France scores 6.0 for mafia groups and 6.5 for crime networks, while Tunisia scores much lower at 1.0 and 4.0, respectively. Overall, while France has certain safety concerns, particularly related to organized crime, it has lower violent crime rates compared to Tunisia. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard precautions while traveling in France.
