France is a highly attractive destination for Swiss visitors, drawing millions of tourists annually. With 6.1 million Swiss traveling abroad each year, a notable portion is likely to choose France for its vibrant culture and diverse offerings.
France is generally safe for tourists coming from Switzerland, but there are notable differences in safety rankings. According to safety statistics, France ranks 40th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, compared to Switzerland's 7th place. In terms of overall safety, France is ranked 84th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, while Switzerland ranks 6th. Murder rates also reflect this disparity, with Switzerland at 0.5 per 100,000 people and France at 1.1. Additionally, various crime indices indicate that France has higher levels of organized crime and other criminal activities compared to Switzerland. While tourists can enjoy their visit to France, it's advisable to remain vigilant and take standard safety precautions, especially in urban areas.
