France is a top global tourism destination, attracting millions of visitors annually due to its vibrant and diverse appeal. It may be particularly appealing to a segment of Burkina Faso's population of 23 million.
France is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Burkina Faso. It ranks 40th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, and 84th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, which indicates it is safer than Burkina Faso, ranked 146th. In terms of murder rates, France has a rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, slightly lower than Burkina Faso's 1.3. Additionally, while both countries face challenges with organized crime, France has lower indices in several categories, such as state crime (3.0 for France vs. 6.5 for Burkina Faso) and resource crime (4.5 for France vs. 8.5 for Burkina Faso). Overall, while no destination is without risk, France offers a relatively safer environment for tourists compared to Burkina Faso.
