Fiji is an appealing destination for a segment of Papua New Guinea's population of 10 million, thanks to its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural experiences. Its thriving tourism industry enhances its attractiveness to potential visitors.
Fiji is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Papua New Guinea. While Papua New Guinea has a higher murder rate of 9.8 per 100,000 people compared to Fiji's 2.2, this suggests a lower risk of violent crime in Fiji. Additionally, crime indices indicate that both countries have similar ratings for mafia presence (1.0), but Fiji scores better in several areas, such as state crime (3.0 vs. 8.0) and arms trafficking (2.0 vs. 5.5). Overall, while no destination is without risk, Fiji offers a safer environment for tourists compared to Papua New Guinea based on available crime statistics.
